Chiropractic care in Stamford, CT
When a joint in your spine stops moving the way it should, the muscles and nerves around it pay for it. Dr. Burstein finds the joint that's causing the trouble and gets it moving again with precise, gentle adjustments, then shows you how to keep it that way.
- One-on-one care
- No referral needed
- Early & after-hours visits

Could chiropractic care help you?
It's often a good fit if you recognize any of these:
- Your back or neck has hurt for weeks and it isn't improving on its own
- You wake up stiff and it takes an hour to loosen up
- Pain medication takes the edge off but the problem keeps coming back
- You get headaches that seem to start in your neck
- Sitting at a desk or driving makes everything worse
- You'd rather avoid injections or surgery if there's another way
Not sure it's right for you? Dr. Burstein will tell you at your first visit, and point you elsewhere if something else would work better.
How it works
What an adjustment actually is
An adjustment is a quick, controlled movement applied to a joint that has stopped moving properly. It restores normal motion, which takes pressure off irritated tissue and lets tight muscles relax. The “pop” some people hear is just gas releasing from the joint, the same thing that happens when you crack your knuckles. It's not bones moving in and out of place.
Never one-size-fits-all
Not every patient wants or needs the same technique. If you're nervous about being adjusted, or if you're older, pregnant or recovering from an injury, Dr. Burstein uses lower-force methods that don't involve twisting or popping. You'll always know what he's going to do before he does it.
More than adjustments
Lasting results come from what happens between visits. Most plans combine adjustments with soft-tissue work, corrective exercises, and practical advice on sitting, sleeping and lifting. When it helps, cold laser therapy can be added to the same visit.
Needling, only as part of your chiropractic care
Dr. Burstein has about 500 hours of postgraduate training in acupuncture techniques. He occasionally uses fine needles as one part of a chiropractic treatment plan, for example to ease pain or for jaw (TMJ) pain. He is not a licensed acupuncturist and doesn't offer acupuncture as a separate, stand-alone treatment. If needling might help you, he'll explain it first, and it's only done with your okay.
What a visit looks like
- Talk You explain what's going on: where it hurts, when it started, what makes it better or worse.
- Examine Posture, range of motion, and orthopedic and neurological tests to find where the problem actually is.
- Explain You hear what's causing your pain, what the plan is, and roughly how many visits it should take.
- Treat Your first adjustment, often on day one, plus one or two simple things to do at home.
Conditions it helps
Chiropractic care is often part of the plan for:
Low back pain
Aching, stiffness or sharp pain in the lower back, from a sudden strain or slowly building over time.
Neck pain
Stiffness, soreness or sharp pain in the neck, often from desk work, sleep position or stress.
Sciatica
Pain, burning or tingling that travels from the low back or buttock down the leg.
Headaches & migraines
Tension headaches and migraines, especially those that start in the neck, shoulders or jaw.
Herniated & degenerative discs
Bulging, herniated or worn discs causing back pain, neck pain or pain into an arm or leg.
Shoulder pain
Pain, weakness or stiffness that makes reaching, lifting or sleeping on your side difficult.
Questions about chiropractic care
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most people feel relief or simply nothing at all. If an area is very inflamed, it may feel tender for a day, similar to after a workout. If you'd rather not be “cracked”, gentler low-force techniques get the joint moving without it.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on the problem and how long you've had it. Many recent problems improve noticeably within a few visits. Long-standing issues take longer. Dr. Burstein gives you an estimate at your first visit and re-checks your progress along the way, so you're never in an open-ended plan.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Connecticut?
No. Chiropractors in Connecticut are primary-contact providers, so you can book directly. Some insurance plans have their own referral rules, and the office can check yours.
Do you treat children?
Yes. Dr. Burstein treats patients of all ages, from children to older adults. Techniques are gentle and adapted to the patient's age and size.
Is chiropractic care safe?
For most people, yes. It's one of the gentlest, lowest-risk options for back and neck pain. Your exam is there to rule out anything that needs a different kind of care, and if something doesn't add up, Dr. Burstein will refer you to the right specialist.
Complimentary first evaluation for new patients. No referral needed.
