Corrective exercise & rehab in Stamford, CT
Pain often shows up in one place because another area isn't doing its job. Your low back works overtime because your hips are stiff, or your neck strains because your upper back has stopped moving. Corrective exercise retrains how you move, so the relief from treatment lasts.
- One-on-one care
- No referral needed
- Early & after-hours visits

Do you need corrective exercise?
It's a good fit if:
- Your pain keeps coming back after treatment
- You're recovering from an injury and want to return to sport safely
- You feel weak, unstable or “off” on one side
- You sit all day and your posture is suffering
- You want to stay active as you get older
- You'd like a short routine you can actually stick to
Almost every plan here ends with a few exercises. The question is which ones, and the movement assessment answers it.
How it works
Why the sore spot isn't always the problem
Where it hurts is often not where the problem starts. Dr. Burstein looks at how your whole body moves, from feet and hips to shoulders, to find the weak or stiff link that's overloading the painful area.
Exercises you'll actually do
You'll get a few targeted exercises, not a 40-minute routine. Each one is chosen for a reason and taught in the office so you do it correctly. As you improve, the exercises progress.
Why the exercises matter
Adjustments and hands-on care calm pain. Corrective exercise builds the strength and control that make it less likely to return.
What a visit looks like
- Screen A movement assessment to find stiff, weak or poorly coordinated areas.
- Teach You learn two or three key exercises, with hands-on coaching.
- Practice A short routine to do at home, usually 10 minutes or less.
- Progress Exercises get more challenging as your strength and control improve.

Questions about corrective exercise and rehab
Is this the same as physical therapy?
It shares the same goal of restoring strength and movement, delivered as part of your chiropractic care with Dr. Burstein rather than at a separate clinic. If you need a dedicated physical therapy program, he'll tell you and refer you.
How much time will the exercises take?
Usually 10 minutes a day or less. The aim is a short routine you'll keep doing, not a long one you'll quit.
Do I need equipment?
Most exercises use body weight, a resistance band or things you already have at home.
